USA make the best possible start to the World Cup. The 6:0 against Great Britain is their third win in a row.
With two victories to their name, including the prestigious win against Slovakia, the USA went into the game against Great Britain as clear favourites. The shooting ratio of 10:1 in the first period of the game spoke a clear language. However, only tournament top scorer Seitz managed to turn her superiority into something tangible.
The preliminary decision was made in the middle period, when the USA pulled away within eight minutes thanks to goals from Seitz, Evangelous, Fortier and Murphy. Seitz doubled her tally in the final period with her third goal of the day to secure a comfortable 6:0 victory.
With three wins from as many games, the US ladies remain the team to beat in this year’s World Cup. On Monday even, they face the reigning runners-up, the Czech Republic. The Brits continue their campaign on Tuesday – also against the Eastern Europeans.
