Outstanding Jan Cejka leads the Czech Republic to a clear victory

The Czech Republic put in a convincing performance on the plastic surface of Visp and defeated Italy 9:1 without any discussion.Jan Cejka was the big figure of the match. The 22-year-old top scorer of the Czech Extraliga also proved his ability on the international stage with three goals. He scored his hat-trick in just 3:37 and made it 2:0, 3:0 and 4:0 with these goals.

Italy had managed to hold the favourites from the Czech Republic to a 0-0 draw after the opening period, but the Czechs really got into their stride in the middle third and took a decisive 6-0 lead after 30 minutes.

This allowed the Czech Republic to take some of the pressure off for the remaining 15 minutes. The only question that remained was whether Leos Gerlich would celebrate a shootout in the Czech goal. But Caperchione stained this clean slate in the 42nd minute with the Italians' only goal.

In the end, the Czech Republic won 9:1 without discussion and took their first three points.
