With the victory of the “United Nations” over Switzerland, the match against Great Britain suddenly took on a new complexion: Team “United Nations”, in 7th place after round robin, could have finished the World Championship in 5th place with a win in this game.
The game went back and forth in a varied first period. The British team, physically a little more robust, took the lead in the 3rd minute through Traill. The numerous penalties showed that the game was decisive for the 5th place and therefore very competitive.
The “United Nations” players, who were keen to run, fought passionately for their chance. However, they were unlucky with their finishing and the score remained 1:0 in favor of Team Great Britain at the end of the second period.
In the final period, both teams looked for a decision. As no further goals were scored, the tension remained until the end.
