In an exciting game, the Czech women won 2:0 against the reigning world champions from Canada
Kristyna Kaltoukova gave the Czech Republic a 1:0 lead in the 5th minute. The fans in the Lonza Arena then saw a high-calibre women's game. Both teams were extremely disciplined in defence and only allowed a few scoring chances. In the last second of the second period, Kubinova was able to increase the score to 2:0 for the Czech Republic and the Canadians were challenged for the final period.
The world champions tried a lot to get the goal they needed. However, the Canadians were unable to find a way to score until the very end, the clock ticked down inexorably and even with the empty net, Canada was unable to score.
