Canada defeats Greece in overtime

In an exciting and hard-fought game, Canada defeated Greece 3:2 in overtime thanks to a goal by Justin MaiolinoThe Greeks proved against world champions Canada the day after their victory against Slovakia that they are definitely a force to be reckoned with this year. Although the Canadians took the lead with goals from Léveillé (9th) and Lemos (22nd), the southern Europeans reduced the deficit in the 26th minute with a powerplay goal from Peter Arkalis.In a physical game with typical Canadian flavour, the two teams battled each other hard, with Canada holding on to their narrow lead until the final phase. Benefiting from an powerplay opportunity and with an extra outfield player, ex-Belper Stephen Alvo scored the acclaimed equaliser for Greece 71 seconds before the end. Overtime had to decide the winner, and it was Maiolino who secured the extra point for the world champions.
